Hilton Head High School sophomore Andrew Orischak was in the first group to tee off this morning on Berkeley Hall’s South Course.  The youngest golfer to compete in the 15 year old tournament was also the first to finish at 4-under.

He was joined by University of South Carolina’s Matthew NeSmith who grew up in North Augusta, South Carolina.  New Zealander Tae Koh enjoyed a bogey free round and also finished the day at 4-under.   The last 4-under of the day belonged to Australian Geoff Drakeford.  A member of the Golf Australia National Squad, he carded four birdies in a row on the front nine.

Play was suspended at 4:27 pm due to lightning while 5 groups were still on the course.  Play resumed 43 minutes later and everyone was able to complete the first round.
