MACCAGLIA LEADS BY THREE STROKES

Bluffton, SC (July 10, 2015) Anthony Maccaglia is in the lead after the second round of the 16th Annual Players Amateur at the Berkeley Hall Golf Club in Bluffton, SC.

The Tampa, Florida native started the day tied for the lead at 4-under and finished the day at 8-under.  Chase Koepka shot 2-under on Friday for a 5-under two-day total, putting him in second place.

Maccaglia’s only bogie happened on hole number 10 but he recovered quickly by carding birdies on holes 11, 13 and 15, “I managed to steal one on 13 which is a pretty tough par 4, said Maccaglia after his round, “When you can steal one like that it always helps the score.”

The Oglethorpe University grad was a member of the 2014 Palmer Cup Team, the first Division III golfer to receive an invite. He says putting is key to scoring well on Berkeley Hall’s North Course, “You’ve got to be on the right side of the hole.  If you are above the hole you are looking at a 6 to 7 footer coming back, no matter how soft you hit it.”

The third round begins tomorrow at 7:00 am.  The public is welcome to attend and admission is free.
