THREE TIED FOR THE LEAD AFTER FIRST ROUND

Bluffton, SC (July 9, 2015) Sunny skies and hot temperatures prevailed throughout the first round of the 16th annual Players Amateur at Berkeley Hall Golf Club’s North Course in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Three contestants finished the round tied for the lead with a 4 under 67.

University of Alabama golfer Robby Shelton, IV finished his round with a birdie on the 18th hole.  He was joined by Tampa, Florida resident Anthony Maccaglia, who recently graduated from Oglethorpe University.  He carded only one bogie and five birdies.

Armstrong State University graduate and Georgia native Michael “Shad” Tuten also finished at 4 under earning five of his six birdies on the back nine. He credits good putting as the reason for his low round, “It’s going to be a grind all week.  It’s really tough out here but I mean these greens are perfect.  It’s going to be a putting competition really.”
