CAULEY HEADLINES 2010 FIELD

BLUFFTON, SC Close to 94 talented young golfers will journey from all over the world to the Belfair Golf Club in Bluffton, SC, July 7  11 for a chance to be named the 2010 Players Amateur Champion. The Players Amateur is one of the most well respected tournaments in amateur golf. Many past participants have been successful at making the transition to the pro circuit. Ben Curtis, Rickie Fowler, Lucas Glover, Bill Haas and Camilo Villegas are just a few that all are now well known on the PGA TOUR. Jacksonville, Florida resident Bud Cauley has committed to defend his title at the 11th annual event. The rising junior at the University of Alabama chose to skip the SEC Championship and play in the 2010 Verizon Heritage. He earned the exemption with his Players Amateur win. He was also a member of the winning 2009 Walker Cup team and was a 2010 Ben Hogan Award Finalist. The Hogan Award is given annually to the nations top collegiate golfer and is the most prestigious honor in college golf. Another 2009 Walker Cup member, Morgan Hoffmann, is also in the field. Hoffman is a standout on Oklahoma State University Golf team. He also qualified for his first US Open earlier this month after carding back-to-back 67s in the Memphis qualifier. Several members of the NCAA Championship team are also in the field. Taylor Floyd, Mitch Krywulycz, Carter Newman and Patrick Reed all played on the Augusta State golf team this year. Patrick is currently ranked #T8 by GolfWeek. He beat OSUs Peter Uihlein and Krywulcz battled back to defeat Kevin Tway to help their team win their first NCAA Championship in school history. The Aussies are back! The popular crew from the land down under is led by Jin Jeong and Jordan Sherratt. Jeong is ranked #1 by GolfWeek and Sherratt is currently in the #T6 spot. The Heritage Classic Foundation is once again conducting the Contestant Amateur Tournament on Wednesday, July 6. If interested in playing call Chris Tobia at (843) 671-2448.
