Bluffton, SC (July 13, 2018) – Daniel Hillier and Andy Zhang’s two day total of 10-under has them sharing the lead going into the weekend at the 19th annual Players Amateur at Berkeley Hall Club.
University of Florida golfer Andy Zhang was on fire during the second round. Nine birdies and one bogey pushed him to a 10-under two day total earning him a share of the lead going into the third round. He shot a first round 69 and only made a few tweaks to his plan, “I controlled my approaches a little better than yesterday, getting some more yardages that I liked.”
New Zealander Daniel Hillier was on the leaderboard after the first round. His first day 65 was good enough to share the second place spot. He kept the same game plan during Friday’s round and shot a 4-under 67, “I played similar to yesterday because there wasn’t a lot of wind. Overall it was pretty scoreable. I just had to make sure I kept it in play and made the most of my chances when I got them.”
Vanderbilt’s John Augenstein finished the day in third place. His second round was full of ups and downs. He finished the day at 4-under with four birdies on the back nine making up for the three bogeys on the front. His two day total is just one shot back of the leaders at 9-under.
Bluffton native and Clemson golfer Bryson Nimmer is three shots back and tied for fourth place. He shot 1-under today after eagling hole #7.
The third round gets underway Saturday at 7:30 am at Berkeley Hall Golf Club. Admission is free and the tournament is open to the public.
