VANDY’S HUNTER STEWART THREE ROUND LEADER

Vanderbilt University’s Hunter Stewart continues to lead the 14th annual Players Amateur at Berkeley Hall Golf Club. The rising junior has led the event all three rounds.

Rain was a factor again today. The Lexington, Kentucky native dealt with intermittent showers, and a 15-minute weather delay at 12:15 pm interrupted his first 6 holes. The sun did appear for the majority of his back nine.

Although he retained his lead, it was not an easy day for Stewart, he double bogeyed hole 15 but regained his composure to card a birdie on hole 17. “I feel like today, the last three holes I was playing well even after the double. It really gives me some confidence going into tomorrow.”

Holding the number two spot for the second day in a row is UC Berkeley’s Michael Weaver. The Fresno, California native was 3-under for the day and only trails Stewart by one stroke. He had a strong front nine, highlighted by birdies on the second, fifth and eighth holes.

A cut was made after Saturday’s round to 40 and ties. Final round tee times for the 42 still in the competition begin at 7:00 in the morning off the first tee.
